So let's welcome in the Christmas Season and get the 2013 Twelve Days of Christmas Earrings Extravaganza underway.
Day 1's earrings are called Twinkle, Twinkle Little Stars.
Firstly, gather all the materials you'll need:
- 8 6mm faceted AB crystal rounds
- 10 small star shaped silver beads
- 2 12x5mm AB crystal teardrops
- 10 silver ball head pins
- 8 silver eye pins
- silver earring wires
- round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, flush cutters
Begin by trimming the eight eye pins to 30mm (1 3/16") with flush cutters.
String a faceted round
on each one and then make a bend approximately 1cm (3/8") from the cut end of each eye pin.
Turn a simple loop on one eye pin.
Turn a simple loop on a second eye pin and then open the loop and hook it onto the stem of the first eye pin above the bead. Close the loop.
Repeat with two more eye pins, making sure you hook the eye loop of each one above the bead of the last eye pin added. You should have a zig-zag drop of four beaded stems. Repeat with the remaining eye pins so you have two drops.
String eight of the stars
onto ball head pins and turn a simple loop on each. Set two of these aside.
String a tear drop
and a star on the two remaining head pins.
Grip the head pin with chain nose pliers and bend it so you create a neck for a wrapped loop.
Form the loop at the top of the neck and then wrap the wire around the stem neatly. Trim away the excess wire.
Attach a star drop to the bottom loop of each eye pin.
Open the loop on the bottom eye pin and hook on the tear drop component.
Hook one of the stars which you set aside onto the earring wire.
Hook the eye loop of the top eye pin in each zig-zag onto the earring wire and then gently close the ear wire so that the components are secure.
Complete the second earring to match.
