Welcome to the third project in my unofficial Cousin Corp Week. Today I'm using Trinkettes, Small Silver Curb Chain and 6mm round silver mirror beads. All the findings I've used in this project come from the 59 piece Starter Pack in bright silver. The only exceptions are the bail, and the memory wire. I wanted to do something a little different with the Trinkettes that Cousin provided me with. Trinkettes are large holed beads so they're best suited to bulky stringing materials. But rather than thread them on standard Trinkette chain, I've opted to do something a little different and use the small curb chain to drape around and frame my butterfly focal. I've used a length of turquoise velour tubing from my collection to add colour and also to keep the chain in place. To start with, cut a length of chain 31.5 inches (81cm) long and fold it into 6 equal lengths. Open the end link with pliers.... ..... and join it to the other end so you have one continuous length of ......
If you've been following the saga of THAT dress, then you'll already know that today was to be the day I passed the verdict on which one of the 7 pieces of jewellery I've made this week that I will wear with the dress for Easter. It's not often that I make so many pieces of jewellery with myself in mind and so choosing one was a task I delegated to a friend who was coming over to the studio today. Unfortunately, we had a last minute change of plans and I'm in the studio on my own. So my plan to model each necklace with THAT dress has also gone out the window but nevertheless, I thought I'd have a little bit of fun with it and have a virtual fashion parade instead. So, cue the upbeat catwalk music and let the fashion parade begin.... Welcome to the Easter Jewels by Mill Lane Studio Jewellery Parade. Fashion experts agree that great jewellery can make an outfit and today, we'll be putting that statement to the test. If you want your jewellery to be noticed in......
This week I have challenged myself with the task of creating a necklace to wear with the dress I plan to wear at Easter. It's a great dress; comfortable and casual but full of colour, some of which I don't usually wear. And consequently, I don't have anything in my jewellery box to wear with it. The colour is so full on that I've had difficulty designing something to wear with it and so far I've created six pieces that I thought might work but alas, not one of them does! So far I've tried the shell pendant (strung on a beaded herringbone rope), paper beads with frangipanis, woven leather lace, brown Kashmiri beads with chain, a turquoise lariat in St Petersburg stitch and most recently, wooden beads and nuts with chocolate metal . I love each and every one of these pieces but just not with THAT dress! So a complete change in direction is needed. Today I've brought out the chain. I'm thinking something big and bold so that it can tame all that colour an......
