Need a last minute jewellery project for Halloween? How about this glowing black cat's eye pendant made with EnviroTex Jewelry Resin ! No need to save it just for Halloween though - it will be perfect for Friday the 13th too! I played around in Photoshop and created a few different eyes (different colours, different pupil shapes) but I picked the second eye for this Halloween project. Click here to get the file, print it and cut the eyes out. They are sized to fit a 1" bezel when printed on A4 (you may need to make adjustments if you print on Letter size paper). If you colour copy them (with a laser printer) onto transparency film you won't have to seal them but if you print them onto paper, make sure you seal them thoroughly with Mod Podge and allow the sealant to dry completely before proceeding. Mix the resin according to the instructions and spoon a small amount into the bezel with a wooden stir stick. You need just enough so that you can spread it out to the edges e......
Today's project is going to take a plain resin bangle and dress it in wonderfully sparkly, pumpkin coloured glitter for Halloween. Notice the white spots on the top of the bangle in the photo below? Well, sometimes when you're working with resin, things don't turn out quite like you'd hoped - this bangle was one of those occasions. But those imperfections make it the perfect candidate for this treatment. I won't go in to what caused the white spots but instead I want to show you a way of disguising them. And seeing as it is Halloween this week, an orange bangle is ideal for the glitter treatment. For the first part of this project you'll need a resin bangle, Mod Podge , glitter (I chose a shade of pumpkin), a tidy tray to catch the glitter and a paint brush. Paint the bangle with a coat of Mod Podge working in small sections at a time. The wonderful thing about Mod Podge is that even though it's water based, it will stick to the resin..... amazing! But be......
You might remember these retro side circle bangles that I cast a few weeks back. In that post I told you that I had a little plan for them and today is the day to reveal that plan. The flat circular areas on the side of the bangles is ideal for gluing on embellishments and these disks which I cast in a paint palette with EasyCast epoxy resin are the perfect fit. Once they were cured, I glued them on with Araldite 5-minute epoxy  for a really strong bond. You can see how to mix 5-minute adhesive properly in this post .  Such a simple but eye catching result and with Halloween just around the corner, the colours couldn't be more perfect. If you're using a paint palette or other plastic as your mould, don't forget to give it a spray with mould release first or the resin will become a permanent fixture in the bottom of the palette! If you liked this idea, take a look at this related project: Pumpkin Glitter Resin Bangle Pin this Project! 'Til next time..... If you can......
Whilst our friends in the northern hemisphere gear up to celebrate Halloween this weekend, it's a very low key affair here in Australia with just a few youngsters canvassing the neighbourhood hoping to bag a swag of candy and other sweet treats. For a child, Halloween offers one of the sweetest joys of childhood..... lollies! Each year, we have a few more knocks on the door than we did the year before. There's no denying that Halloween is slowly gaining in popularity in Australia, especially with the younger generation. And in a conversation with a fellow resin enthusiast last week (who also happens to work with latex masks) she was telling me how excited she was about receiving her invitation to the local special FX industry's Halloween bash. My local costume shop had cars parked up and down the street tonight. With late night trading, they seemed to be doing a roaring trade with people gearing up for parties across Brisbane, so it just goes to show that there will always ......
